Creating a Safety Plan

A safety plan is a personalized strategy to help you stay safe in dangerous situations. Consider these questions:

  • What has helped me stay safe before?
  • Do I have a safe place to go? (Call REACH for shelter support if needed)

Items to gather and keep hidden:

  • Cash, cards, and keys
  • Medications and essential medical items
  • A change of clothes
  • Sentimental items and photos

Important documents to secure:

  • Birth certificates and Social Security cards
  • Banking information and insurance papers
  • Marriage licenses and other critical records

Steps to Protect Yourself
