Emergency Shelter & Safety

If you are looking for emergency shelter, please call our 24/7 Helpline at 828-456-7898 to discuss options and availability.

Our Shelter

REACH offers emergency shelter to victims, their dependents, and animals, ensuring that individuals in crisis have a secure place to go. All services at REACH are offered at no cost to our clients, made possible through the generosity of donors and grants.

Laura’s House, our shelter, is the only shelter in Haywood County that provides a safe, supportive space for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking.

Thanks to support from the Red Rover Grant and community donors, REACH is one of the few shelters locally that can accommodate clients with pets.

Honoring Laura Lang

Laura Lang was a beautiful soul in the Haywood County community. She dedicated years of service to REACH as a volunteer and chair of the Board of Directors. Her husband, a skilled contractor, helped build the shelter into the warm, welcoming home it is today for those seeking refuge. After her unexpected passing in 2019, we chose to honor Laura’s legacy of service, love, and generosity by naming our shelter, Laura’s House.
