RAD Self-Defense Program
Over the past year, women across Haywood County have been gaining confidence, skills, and a renewed sense of personal safety through the Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) program, a nationally recognized self-defense training designed specifically for women.
Offered through a collaborative effort between the Waynesville Police Department and REACH of Haywood County, R.A.D. classes have reached women of all ages and backgrounds, providing practical tools to recognize danger, set boundaries, and respond effectively in threatening situations.
Community Partnership &
Sponsorship Opportunities
To ensure these programs remain sustainable and accessible, REACH is seeking partnerships with local businesses, faith communities, and civic organizations. Support is specifically needed for:
- Facility Space: For upcoming community classes and training sessions
- Food Sponsorships: To provide snacks and/or meals for participants
- Financial Contributions: To help remove barriers like equipment and certification costs
To donate towards the sustainability of this program, please visit our Donation page.
Upcoming Classes
Affordable R.A.D. self-defense classes for women will continue throughout the year, with a goal of hosting 4 sessions annually. Scholarships are available, and participants ages 12–18 are welcome with parental consent.
